African funding

African funding institutions and other implementing organizations were both created to play major Financial role in development finance in varying degrees. Apart from the African Development banks, AfdB, African Export Import bank Afrexim and other Regional banks such as Development banks of South Africa and the newly created Nigerian Development bank, International Finance Corporation has invested over $25 billion USD for project development and poverty reduction in Africa.

The SGD agenda 2016-2030 was designed to create a paradigm shift in funding projects In Africa with emphasis on alternative approach to raising capital for development in Africa. This has resulted in some phase growth of trust funds and venture capital involvement in financing projects in Africa. A very sustainable approach is therefore needed if Africa infrastructure growth and development will meet the SGD agenda 2030.
